Austin, TX – June 17, 2019 – Richard Counts has joined American Innovations (AI) as Vice President of Research and Development. He has worked for Fortune 500 companies and start-ups in the enterprise/SaaS software, biotechnology, precision test instrumentation and electronics systems industries.
He has led the development of complex systems with wide-ranging applications, and also brings hands-on design and development experience with everything from radio to high-speed computing, power electronics, robotics and laser technologies to this newly created role on the leadership team at AI.

VP of Research and Development is a newly-created position for American Innovations, a company with over 30-years’ experience and commitment to creating products, software and services to serve the corrosion control industry. The company has grown exponentially since its beginnings in remote monitoring products to provide complete compliance solutions that serve all the major gas and oil companies in the United States with its products, software solutions and professional services. Counts has joined the team to help power the company even further in some important ways.

Counts graduated first in his graduating class in Physics. He received his Bachelor Degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from The University of Texas at Dallas. While attending university, he worked as a research assistant creating electronic and hypersonic shock tube experimental equipment, and on new laser technologies both gas and solid state. Some of his previously held positions include Senior Director of Research and Development of Medical Devices at Luminex Corporation, and Director of Software Development at Miratech.
