Rectifiers are the “power source of choice” for the vast majority of our impressed current cathodic protection systems, most often utilizing commercially available AC power systems and their associated safety ground system.
Unintended connections between our rectifiers and the AC power system ground can result in serious, and sometimes catastrophic damage to buried metallic structures that are common with the AC power ground system.
Join us as we examine this phenomenon and provide simple field tests that should be a part of every CP technician’s rectifier inspection routine to enable early detection and correction of any issue, long before incurring unnecessary and costly legal action and remediation of inadvertent damage.
