New Version of Pipeline Compliance System Software Expands Capabilities to Include Telluric Compensation and Enhanced Survey Reporting

Austin, TX – February 27th, 2015 – American Innovations (AI), protecting people and the environment with compliance solutions for the oil and gas industry, introduces the latest version of its Pipeline Compliance System (PCS) Axis Software. PCS makes it easy for operators to effectively capture, analyze, report, and act on data for cathodic protection (CP) systems.

The Pipeline Compliance System is a fully modular system that manages compliance information collected for natural gas, hazardous liquids, and other pipeline systems to comply with PHMSA regulations DOT 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195. It monitors inspection intervals, optimizes geographic routing, and provides a robust report engine with user-customizable and standard reports.

With Version 1.8, PCS now has the capability to correct survey readings for sporadic voltage swings due to telluric current in the Earth’s crust. Stationary data logger (SDL) measurements of telluric effects are imported and then used to adjust survey values based on the millisecond resolution timestamp and precise physical location of each measurement. As an added bonus, high resolution SDL wave forms can be captured and stored for confirmation of clean interruption cycles.

PCS Axis Version 1.8 provides additional capabilities to ensure compliance, including:

  • Right of Way Series – PCS extends the existing Series feature to include multiple ROWs, easing survey and report creation for customers with pipeline station numbers or mileposts that are not necessarily sequential along ROWs. Series Chaining also introduces a new ordering method that is compatible with PODS (Pipeline Open Data Standards).
  • UDF Types – These new user-defined field (UDF) types include: On/Off Pairs and Aggregation (average, count latest, minimum, maximum, and sum), and Days Between Dates for scheduling and reporting.
  • Multi-Potential Test Point – This feature supports users with multiple or redundant measurements per test point station. All survey measurements are captured in PCS requiring no decisions in the field. After data import, only relevant measurements are designated for audit, reporting, and analysis purposes.

“This latest release is the culmination of over four years of development effort and contains a set of high value new features for the CP industry.” says Andrew Holle, PCS Product Manager. “We continue to invest heavily in PCS development to ensure it remains the leading compliance software for oil and gas operators.”
