Community
American Innovations has Heart - we give back to the community and are driven by a desire to help others. We are committed to helping our communities and making employees’ lives better. We do this in several ways, including:
Donations
• Bass Engineering and AI donated $250,000 to NACE, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, to help build their new state-of-the-art facility in Houston, TX. Click here for a tour of the building.
• AI donates to a different non-profit organization each quarter. Past recipients include: ALS-Rocky Mountain Section, Craig Rehabilitation Hospital, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Sustainable Food Center, F.I.T. (Food in Tummies), People’s Community Clinic, Solid Ground, Feeding America, Wounded Warriors, MAP International, Austin Children's Shelter and many more.
• AI has donated over $5,000 per year to the Alzheimer's Association for the past five years.
• AI kicked off its very first United Way Giving Campaign in 2011. Employees committed to donating a portion of their earnings each month for the entire year.
• AI's annual Food Drive generates more than 1,500 pounds of food for needy Central Texans.
• Theater Action Project is one of many organizations that AI employees support with time as well as money. TAP is the largest provider of after-school care in Central Texas and helps area youth deal with difficult issues like bullying, safe dating, domestic violence and cyber-bullying.
"Sweat Equity"
• AI employees participate in company-wide volunteer events every year. In July 2011, AI performed a day of service for the Balcones Council of Camp Fire USA where staff painted, weeded, cleaned, wrote creative letters to Camp Fire kids and repaired camping equipment for future excursions.

• Past offsite volunteer events include clean-up at local greenspace Mayfield Park, food packaging at the Capital Area Food Bank and home rehabilitation at Habitat for Humanity.
Employee Health & Support
• In 2011, AI was recognized by the Austin Business Journal and the Seton Family of Hospitals as one of the "Healthiest Employers in Central Texas". Employees participate in a Wellness Program that includes the company-supported, on-site fitness and training Workforce 30 program, as well as free enrollment in a smoking cessation program and other opportunities to improve well-being throughout the year.

• The Environmental Health & Safety Awareness program is an employee-driven and staffed initiative to make AI a stronger, healthier, safer and more environmentally conscious workplace. Three committees - Environmental Awareness, Health Awareness and Safety Awareness - work together to develop and implement activities that move AI towards that goal.
• The company has twice received U.S. Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve "Above and Beyond" Award for its support of military employees. The award recognizes employers at a local level that have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave and providing support for military duty for their employees.
Professional Development:
• AI employees are encouraged to participate in a number of industry organizations, including NACE, API, ESRI, PODS, SGA and GITA. AI employees have taken leadership positions in those organizations and have even started new area chapters.
• Employees share their expertise, participate in panels and focus groups and present papers at many conferences each year, including NACE's annual CORROSION event, the API Pipeline conference, Southern Gas Association Gas Operating convention, American Gas Association meeting and many more.
• AI has a generous tuition reimbursement program and several employees have received advanced degrees funded in part by AI and further supported by time away from work and cooperation from team members.
