American Innovations' Year of Community Service Focuses on Health and Wellness for All
December 20, 2011; AUSTIN, TX: American Innovations, a leading provider in cathodic protection, integrity management and remote monitoring, is committed to helping communities both locally and worldwide. Community service activities support two fundamental company values -- Heart and Service. AI employees stood behind those values in 2011 by supporting organizations dedicated to helping people live better.
"I'm proud to be part of a team that believes strongly in making the community a better place,” said American Innovations President Rich Smalling. “Concentrating our efforts on health is a perfect fit for us. As one of Austin's Healthiest Employers, we've made fitness and wellness in the workplace a priority. We've all seen the benefits of taking care of ourselves, and believe everyone else deserves access to good health."
The year's highlights included:
• Company-wide Volunteer Event at Campfire USA: Employees and their children painted and repaired the Campfire USA facility, organized materials, repaired tents and sleeping bags, wrote letters and more during a day of service.
• Second Annual Food Drive: The spirit of fierce competition between departments led AI employees to exceed their 2010 collections by 36%. A ton of food (literally!) was delivered to the Capital Area Food Bank.
• United Way Giving Campaign: AI employees participated in its first ever United Way campaign in 2011; employees pledged over $15,000 to non-profits in Central Texas, Littleton, CO and other areas for needy families.
AI donated to the Junior League's FIT (Food In Tummies) Program, the ALS Boulder, CO Chapter, and PE3, a Texas-based organization that provides a school curriculum for young adults to learn how to lead a healthy lifestyle. For the fifth straight year, the company supported the Alzheimer's Association of Austin with a $5,000 sponsorship of the Links & Lyrics fundraiser. In addition, employees also came together to provide assistance with medical and living expenses for the family of a young man suffering from brain cancer.
American Innovations subsidiary Bass Engineering donated to the Salvation Army and Longview Community Ministries, and sponsored a number of local events in the Longview, TX community.
Whether fighting disease, promoting healthier eating, or encouraging children to spend more time outdoors, AI feels strongly about helping others live longer and stronger.
AI is proud to be an integral part of the community and help those in need. For any questions or donation requests, please contact Community Service Officer Anna Wilson by phone (512-249-3489) or email (anna.wilson@aiworldwide.com).
