Track a PIG with a BAT: Bullhorn Asset Tracker (BAT™) Website Offers Real time View of Pipeline PIGs
.jpg) Austin, TX; October 18th, 2011: American Innovations, a leading provider of products and services for pipeline industries, announces the release of the Pipeline PIG Tracking application for the Bullhorn Asset Tracker (BAT™) website. BAT is American Innovations’ powerful web-based asset management interface for the Bullhorn® Remote Monitoring System. PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge) Tracking gives Bullhorn APM4AM-SAT users the ability to track a PIG's progress through a pipeline system with remote monitoring devices at pre-determined points. This allows users to track a PIG in the pipeline as it passes each Bullhorn unit. Users can visualize the PIG moving through the pipeline in "real time" on a map integrated into BAT.
The Bullhorn system monitors and collects data from industrial assets and provides immediate notification of alarm conditions by voice, e-mail and/or text. BAT™mobile provides users with on-the-go access to BAT in a smartphone optimized format and BAT™txt allows customers to communicate with units via SMS in low signal areas.
 Units selected for monitoring the PIG are mapped and updated according to a user-defined refresh time (1-10 minutes). "Because the location refreshes so often, technicians in the field can stay ahead of the PIG by using BAT," explained Jaco Botes, Director of Software Development. "They can see data on their PC, smartphone or by text message, no matter where they are. Users also have access to detailed information about alerts related to the PIG data."
The PIG tracking application can be used for any "event monitoring" scenario, especially where a visual view of the system or one or more sub-systems is needed. Simply identify the set of unit alerts to be monitored and the BAT event monitoring application does the rest. Any Bullhorn unit can be used for general event monitoring, regardless of communication type.
